One Bradfield motorised car and one Bradfield dummy car in Tuscan Red

The models have been produced to HO scale standards and run on 12 volt DC. With the removal of the eight pin plug located on the PCB, and the insertion of a DCC decoder, this model is now ready to be operated using DCC.

History.
The 101 cars in this group, designed by E E Lucy, Cheif Mechanical Engineer of the NSW Railways, entered steam-hauled service in Sydney between October 1920 and January 1923, and carried numbers in the range 2112 to 2212. They were the first car's specifically designed for future conversion to electric traction, and were built under contracts shared by the Clyde Engineering Company (42 cars), Ritchie Brothers (40 cars), Meadowbank Engineering Company (18 cars) and Eveleigh Carraige Workshops (one car). The design was supposedly inspired by the Victorian Railways Tait cars and New York subway cars, the latter being observed by Dr. J J C Bradfield during his 1914 investigation of suburban railway operations in England, Europe and the USA. The cars were constructed on steel underframes with timber body frames and timber panels above waist rail height. Below the waist rail, steel panels grooved to resemble match board timber were fitted, and they were the first cars in Australia built to the new loading gauge width of 10ft 5in (31.8m). To test the most suitable electrical equipment for Sydney's electric cars, EFA2139 of this group (later numbered C3091) was briefly fitted with items borrowed from the Victorian Railways. Between 1925 and 1928 these cars were fitted with electric equipment and drivers controls and renumbered into the electric car series, becoming C3000 to C3100. All cars featured a large guard's compartment incorporating the driver's cab.
